Marios Neophytou

Marios Neophytou ( born February 4, 1977 in Limassol) is a Cypriot footballer who is currently working for APEP Pitsilia.

Career

Neophytou began his career in 1993 at AEL Limassol. He remained there until 1999, when he was transferred to Anorthosis Famagusta. His last season for Anorthosis Famagusta was probably his most successful. This season he scored 33 goals for his team and thus was top scorer in the First Division of the 2002/ 2003. After this performance, he aroused great interest of the Greek club OFI Crete, where he moved away in the summer of 2003. But after just one season in Greece, he moved back to Cyprus and indeed to APOEL Nicosia, where he scored 26 goals in three years. In June 2007 he signed a contract with AEK Larnaca. After he played for Nea Salamis Famagusta in 2008 and 2009 for Olympiakos Nicosia. After only half a year, he then moved to APOP Kinyras Peyias. But even there, he completed only nine league games and then moved up to the second division Akritas Chlorakas. By 2012, there Neophytou acted as player-coach, before he moved to league rivals APEP Pitsilia in order to pursue the same activities.

From 2000 to 2004, he completed five appearances for the Cyprus national football team.
