Marit Allen

Marit Allen ( born September 17, 1941 in Cheshire, England; † November 26, 2007 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia) was a British costume designer.

Life

The daughter of a Norwegian and a Briton grew up in France, where she studied at the University Joseph Fourier Grenoble I, Grenoble. Your career in business began in 1961 as an intern of the British fashion magazine Queen. Quickly became Allen as an editor, until she got in 1963 offered a job at Vogue magazine. After she had left in 1973, Vogue, she was instrumental in the establishment of the Department of Journalism Studies at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

In 1980, Allen's film career, when she designed the costumes for Nicolas Roeg's film drama Bad Timing. Allen was involved in a very different film productions, including next film dramas in history and science fiction films.

Allen married in 1966 the U.S. film producer Sanford Lieberson, from which she divorced in 1983. The couple had three children, daughters Lucy and Holly, and son Ben.

Marit Allen died in November 2007 at a sudden brain aneurysm. It was in 2008 for the film La vie en rose posthumously nominated for an Oscar for Best Costume Design. She was awarded for the same movie but with a BAFTA Award.
