Mark Coleridge

Mark Benedict Coleridge ( born September 25, 1948 in Melbourne, Australia) is Archbishop of Brisbane.

Life

Mark Benedict Coleridge studied theology at the University of Melbourne and received in 1974 by John Anthony Kelly ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Melbourne. After pastoral work, he studied from 1980 to 1984 at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and Jerusalem. From 1985 he taught at the Catholic Theological College in Melbourne. In 1988 he received his doctorate in Biblical exegesis at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and Jerusalem. From 1998 he was at the State Secretariat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Vatican, works. He was appointed Monsignor (Kaplan His Holiness ) 2001.

2002 Pope John Paul II appointed him Titular Bishop of Theveste and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Melbourne. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Melbourne, Denis Hart; Co-consecrators were Francesco Canalini, the then Apostolic Nuncio in Australia, and George Pell, Archbishop of Sydney. His motto Sanguis et Aqua ( " blood and water") is taken from the Gospel of John ( Jn 19:34 EU). In 2006 he was appointed Archbishop of Canberra - Goulburn. On April 2, 2012 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Archbishop of Brisbane. The inauguration took place on 11 May of the same year.

He was from 1995 to 1997 a member of the International Commission on English in the Liturgy ( International Commission on English in the Liturgy ). 2002 was he and a member of the Commission for Liturgy of the Australian Bishops' Conference, the Secretary-General in 2003. In 2004 he was appointed Chairman of the editorial board of the Roman Missal, as well as Chairman of the International Commission for the preparation of an English edition. He is also Chairman of the Commission for Liturgy of the Australian Bishops' Conference.

He is a Grand Officer of the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem, and Grand Prior of the Lieutenancy of the Order of Queensland; Joseph John Oudeman supplied to him as coadjutor Grand Prior to the side.
