Mark Taylor (politician)

Mark Fletcher Taylor ( born May 7, 1957 in Albany, Georgia ) is an American politician. Between 1999 and 2007 he was Deputy Governor of the State of Georgia.

Career

Mark Taylor initially completed the Deerfield -Windsor Preparatory School in Albany. He studied political science at Emory University. It was followed by a law degree from the University of Georgia. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party. Between 1987 and 1999 he sat in the Senate of Georgia. His main political topics were health policy, education policy and the fight against crime.

1998 Taylor was elected to the side of Roy Barnes for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia. This post he held for a reelection between 11 January 1999 to 8 January 2007. Since 2003 he was the deputy of the Republican Governor Sonny Perdue. In 2006, Taylor ran unsuccessfully against Perdue for the office of governor. Today, he is CEO of the Albany -based transport and storage company Fred Taylor Company. He is married and has an adult son.
