Martha Stewart (actress)

Martha Stewart ( born October 7, 1922 in Bardwell, Carlisle County, Kentucky; † February 25, 2012 in Northeast Harbor, Hancock County, Maine) was an American singer and actress.

Life and career

Stewart graduated from New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn, New York. She began her career as a nightclub singer in the 1930s and went on among other things, as a chorus girl for Glenn Miller and Claude Thornhill.

In the 1940s and 1950s, Martha Stewart starred in several Hollywood productions, in particular she performed in musicals in appearance. After her big-screen debut in Dollface she had her first major role as Lou Lou in I wonder who's kissing her now for 20th Century Fox. In addition, she appeared in numerous television shows, including as co-host in Those Two ( 1952-1953 ). In addition, they also continued to perform as a stage singer, among other things, the Blackburn Twins side on.

During one of their nightclub performances Stewart met the entertainer Joe E. Lewis, whom she married in Miami on 31 March 1946. The marriage was dissolved in 1948 due to Lewis' alcohol problems again. In The Joker is Wild (1947 ), a film about Lewis' life, Stewart is represented by Mitzi Gaynor.

In August 1949 Martha Stewart married in Santa Monica her fellow actor George O'Hanlon, with whom she had played in "Are You With It " in 1948. The marriage was also divorced in 1951.

From 1968 to 2002 Stewart worked as a school librarian in Northeast Harbour.

On February 25, 2012 Martha Stewart died at the age of 89 years at home.
