Martha Vickers

Martha Vickers ( born May 28, 1925 in Ann Arbor, Michigan as Martha MacVicar, † November 2, 1971 in Hollywood, California ) was an American actress.

Life

Vickers, who began her career as a model and cover girl, played her first role in 1943 in small extras Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man. They celebrated the biggest success in 1946 firmly at the side of Humphrey Bogart Lauren Bacall as a younger sister Carmen Star Wood sleep in the thriller Dead. Thereafter, only small roles in minor films followed. After Vickers had appeared in the 1950s in several television productions, she eventually moved in 1960 back into private life.

Martha Vickers was married from 1948 to 1949 with producer AC Lyles, from 1949 to 1951 with actor Mickey Rooney and 1954-1965 with actor Manuel Rojas. She was the mother of one son and two daughters. Her son is the actor Teddy Rooney.

She died at the age of 46 of esophageal cancer and is buried at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in Hollywood.
