Martin Ã…slund

Martin Åslund ( born November 10, 1976 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish football player. The midfielder, who has played four caps for the Swedish national team between 1998 and 2001, is the son and nephew Sanny Åslunds Anders Åslunds, both of itself each played in the Allsvenskan.

Career

Åslund started in 1981 playing football in the youth of AIK. In 1983 he moved to the youth of IFK Täby and played from 1991 for the youth teams of Enebybergs IF. In 1993, he joined the youth Djurgårdens IF, where he debuted in the Swedish second league in 1994. With the club he was Season winner in the north and thus promotion to the Allsvenskan. After the club in 1996 only took a relegation place, Åslund left the club and went to league rivals IFK Norrköping where he was the next two years running. On 14 October 1998 Åslund came to his international debut for the Swedish national selection. In the 1-0 win against Bulgaria he was in the starting and was replaced in the 71st minute for Jesper Blomqvist. It was initially his only international match appearance.

Åslund 1999 returned back to the club where he did his first footballing steps: AIK Solna. With the club in the same year he was celebrating his first title, the club won the Svenska Cupen. On 10 February 2001 he was able to crown his comeback in the national team as part of the King's Cup with a goal in the 4-1 win against Thailand. In the tournament, he played two more games and scored another goal. Until 2004 he remained loyal AIK and walked on to the club in the league, the National Cup and the European Cup. After the descent of the club from the Allsvenskan, he decided to go abroad.

Along with teammate Jimmy Tamandi Åslund moved to Serie B for Salernitana Calcio, where a year ago a former AIKler was already executed changes with Karl Corneliusson. There, however, he only played a half series to return to Northern Europe. In the summer of 2005, Åslund Viborg FF joined in the Danish Superliga and signed a four-year contract.

In March 2008, Åslund returned to Sweden in the Superettan and signed a two-year contract with the second division Movers Assyriska FF. With the club he missed out in fourth just under the relegation place for promotion to the Allsvenskan.
