Martin Petráš

Martin Petráš ( born November 2, 1979 in Bojnice, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak football player. The defender has since 2009 when AC Cesena under contract.

Club career

Petráš began playing football at Banik Prievidza, in the 1998/99 season he made ​​the jump to the first team. In the summer of 2000, the Slovak moved to the Czech Republic and joined the FK Jablonec. Through good performance he made the giants Sparta Prague attention to ensure that took the tall defender in the summer of 2002 under contract. In preparation for the 2002/ 03 season Petráš injured, but played himself after his recovery then in the starting eleven, bringing with Sparta Czech title. A re-injury stopped him again before he was, from 2004 back regular for Sparta was again in 2005 Czech Master.

In January 2006 Petráš changed over the formal detour FBK Kaunas to the Scottish first division club Heart of Midlothian, where he, however, only five times was used. In the summer of 2006, the Slovak went to the Italian second division side U.S. Lecce. In January 2007 Petráš changed again and played the club on loan for the FBC Treviso. In August 2007, the defender went free transfer to U.S. Triestina, for which he was in Serie B in two years to 44 games and scored two goals. For the 2009/10 season Petráš moved again and joined the AC Cesena, with the he managed to promotion to Serie A.

National

Petráš plays regularly since 2002 for the Slovak national team and also was in the squad for the finals of the Slovakia World Cup 2010 in South Africa. In 2000 he participated with the Slovak selection of the Summer Olympic Games in Sydney.
