Martin Wierig

Martin Wierig ( born June 10, 1987 in Beck -Neindorf ) is a German discus thrower.

He is since 2006 a member of the Federal Police Sports School Kienbaum, the top sports conveyor of the Federal Police for summer and year-round sports.

Life

Wierig grew up in Seehausen and attended from seventh grade the sports high school in Magdeburg. Having initially focused on the hurdles, his coach Armin Lemme led him in 2000 to connect with throwing area. Although he scored passable results also in the shot put, proved with the time of the discus throw as his strongest discipline.

With the discus Wierig was at the Track World Junior Championships 2004 in Grosseto eight and won at the Junior European Championships 2005 in Kaunaus and the Junior World Championships in 2006 in Beijing bronze medals. He won at the U23 European Championships 2007 in Debrecen, finishing at the U23 European Championships 2009 in Kaunaus third.

At the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona was Wierig seventh at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu as he missed 19 of qualifying a place in the final.

2012 Wierig won the European Cup Winter Throwing in cash However, he missed at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki a place in the final. Shortly before the Olympic Games in London he improved his personal best to 68.33 meters and finished in the meantime, the fourth in the annual world leaderboard. In the title fights even he was with 65.85 meters sixth.

At the World Championships 2013 in Moscow Wierig was having a width of 65.02 m fourth.
