Masjid-e-Aqsa

The Masjid -e- Aqsa ( Urdu مسجد اقصی, DMG masǧid Aqsa, The remote mosque ') in Rabwah (Pakistan ) is the world's largest mosque of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat. The mosque has a capacity of 18,500 faithful, the Friday mosque of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Rabwah. It is often crowded during Friday prayers despite its size.

History

At the request of the second caliph, Mirza Bashir ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad, a central mosque to be built in Rabwah. The blueprint was already established during his tenure, but because of the diseased Caliph of the foundation could not be added. Then laid on October 28, 1966 Mirza Nasir Ahmad laid the foundation for the Masjid -e- Aqsa. The Friday Sermon the third Caliph on March 31, 1972, the mosque was opened.

Building and construction

The pillarless main hall is reserved about 1,650 square meters and only for men. 650 m² of the upper floor are reserved for women and the remaining 1000 m² for men. Together with the 3,700 m² large box include the mosque can accommodate up to 18,500 worshipers. The main minaret should be a meter higher than that of the Badshahi Mosque according to the desire of the Caliph, so its 55 m high. The Pakistan Air Force in Sargodha did not allow this minaret. The mosque has now a total of six minarets, four of which are about 20 m and two 12 m high.

The construction costs of about 1.3 million rupees took over completely Muhammad Sadiq Bani, whose name was not published until after his death.

Nusrat Jehan Academy

The Nusrat Jehan Academy is a school complex with elementary, middle and high school, which is also located in the city of Rabwah. The school is owned by the Masjid -e- Aqsa. 99 % of the students are children of Ahmadis. The school lists the classes 1 to 10 and also offers lessons after school. The separate by gender classes are held in separate buildings for girls and boys.
