Mason is a city in southwestern Warren County, Ohio, United States. At the 2000 census, Mason had 22,016 inhabitants. It was the fastest-growing and most populous city in the county. The place belongs to the Greater Cincinnati.
The company Luxottica has its headquarters for the United States here. Until February 1997 Mason was part of Deerfield Township.
Geography
Masons geographical coordinates loud 39 ° 21 ' N, 84 ° 19' W39.358055555556 - 84.311944444444 ( 39.358009, -84.311822 ). Mason is in the catchment area of Cincinnati. At the national road network of the city is connected by highways I-71 and I-75.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has an area of 45.7 km ², of which 45.6 km ² of land and 0.1 km ² ( = 0.23 %) are water.
The place has its own post office, for parts of the urban area, however, the post offices in Kings Mills, Lebanon and Maineville are responsible.
Climate
History
On June 1, 1803 acquired William Mason, a veteran of the American War of Independence, at an auction about 640 acres ( about 256 hectares) of land on the territory of today's local Mason. In 1815, he put on 16 plots on this land and named the place " Palmyra ". Another 40 plots were measured in 1832, two years after Mason's death, as certain Masons last will. In the entry in the land register, the name of the place was given as " Palmyra ".
The postal administration of the United States was in 1835 entering the citizens of the place, to correct the name. The United States Postal Service introduced the place as " Kirkwood ", which was probably caught in the local list of mail through a confusion with the name of the then Postmaster William Kirkwood. However, since there already was a Palmyra Township in Ohio, the name was changed in honor of its founder in " Mason ".
Mason remained for the next 125 years, a small, dominantly agricultural village. The place was in 1970, the year before the incorporation as a city less than 5,700 inhabitants.
Demography
At the time of the census of 2000, 22,016 people lived in Mason. The population density was 482.7 people per km ². There were 8111 housing units at an average 177.8 per km ². The population consisted of Masons 94.79 % White, 1.61 % African American, 0.19 % Native American, 2.18% Asian, 0.01 % Pacific Islander, 0.30 % reported other races to belong and 0.93 % from two or more races. 0.97 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Residents Masons distributed to 7789 households out of which 45.2% were living in children under 18 years. 67.5 % married couples living together, 6.8 % had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.2% were non-families. 20.0% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 6.7 % of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size is 3.27 people.
The population was spread out with 32.1 % under the, 5.1 % 18 -24- year-old, 35.3 % 25 -44- year-old, 19.1% 45-64 year olds and 8.4 % under the age of 65 years or more. The average age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 95.7 males. In the over -18s accounted for 100 women 92.4 males.
The median household income in Mason was 65 968 U.S. dollars, and the median family income reached the level of 75 697 U.S. dollars. The average income of men was 52 795 U.S. dollars, compared to 32 457 U.S. dollars for women. The per capita income amounted to 29,109 U.S. dollars. 2.8 % of the population and 1.6 % of families had affected an income below the poverty line, including 1.8 % of minors and 4.8 % of those age 65 or over.

In Mason currently not a licensed provider of Radio and Television has its headquarters in the city is one of the few still existing transmission towers, of the TV station WLW (700 Cincinnati ), which belongs to the group Clear Channel Communications, used.
