Material Girls

Material Girls is an American youth comedy from the year 2006. Leading ladies are the spectacle sisters Hilary and Haylie Duff. The screenplay was written by John Quaintance and is directed by Martha Coolidge.

Action

In Material Girls is about the sisters Ava and Tanzie Marchetta, who are the heirs of a cosmetic line. But after her father, the head and owner of the company dies, the two spoiled girls must take on together with the managing the line. When suddenly scandals about the companies popping up, it threatens to bankrupt go. Ava and Tanzie must now prove that these stories are not true. It is also important for the girls to assert themselves even without money in the world. Finally comes out that her father's former best friend and current Managing Director Tommy Katzenbacher is responsible for the scandals of Marchetta cosmetics line.

  • The cat Henry was named after Clarence Darrow, who was the attorney of John Thomas Scopes in the Scopes Trial.
  • Tanzie breaks the truth to find out in the office of the new CEO (former friend of the father). She is similar to Erin Brockovich (played by Julia Roberts), from the film Erin Brockovich, in clothing and makeup.

Production

The film is a co-production company Maverick Films, Rafter H Entertainment and Patriot Pictures. The film production started on 18 April 2005 and filming ended on 4 August 2005. March 31, 2006 announced Lukas Haas that no distributor has been found for the film. Six days later, on April 6, Box Office Mojo announced on its website that MGM bought up the rights to the film and allowed to demonstrate in 1,500 cinemas.

On its opening weekend, the film grossed over U.S. $ 4 million dollars and up to 22 October 2006, only about 11 million.

Publications

The movie was released in the U.S. cinemas on 18 August 2006. The film December 4 Furthermore ran on 14 September 2006 in Australia, 20 October in Iceland, on 9 November in Singapore, Thailand, and on 15 December in Mexico. In the Netherlands, on 20 February 2007, the film was released straight to DVD, as well as in Hungary ( April 17 ), Poland (19 April ) and Germany (26 April 2007). Also appeared Material Girls in Spain (21 November 2007) and Argentina (6 August 2008) now on DVD.
