Mathias Herrmann

Mathias Herrmann (born 1962 in Friedberg ) is a German actor.

Life

The son of a bookseller family attended after high school acting lessons at the Otto Falkenberg School in Munich. Already during his studies he stood on the stage of the Munich Studio Theater. Theater engagements in Freiburg, Dortmund, Bremen, Bonn, Mannheim, Basel and Dusseldorf followed.

His film debut was in 1987 in the surprise hit The Girl with the lighters by Ralf Huettner. 1995 Mathias Herrmann drew international attention with a starring role in De Partizanen (directed by Theu Boerman ), a Dutch World War II drama, which received numerous awards and was nominated for an Emmy. His breakthrough in the German television succeeded with the role of the lawyer Dr. Johannes Voss in the ZDF detective series A Case for Two (1997-2000, episodes 149-182 ). It was followed by numerous leading roles in successful and award-winning German television dramas, including Grimme Award for The Phantom of Dennis Gansel. In the cinema Herrmann was also seen in John Rabe. Directed by Oscar winner Florian Gall Berger 2009 film was nominated for four German Film Awards, including Best Picture. In December 2012, launches The Adventures of Huck Finn, directed by Grimme Award winner Hermione Huntgeburth.

Mathias Herrmann is also spokesman for audio books and readings and a member of the German Academy for Television.

Mathias Herrmann lives in Heidelberg, is married to actress Nicole Averkamp ( mother of Sophie Averkamp ) and has three children. His brother is the film producer and distributor of films Benjamin Herrmann.
