Mathieu Dandenault

Mathieu Dandenault ( born February 3, 1976 in Sherbrooke, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played during his active career, among other things for the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens in the National Hockey League.

Career

The 1.85 m tall defender started his career at the Sherbrooke Faucons in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL before he was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL Entry Draft in 1994 as 49 players in the second round.

Even in his first NHL season 1995/96, the right-handed shooter played in the master cadre of Red Wings, for which he was nine years on the ice and with whom he could win the Stanley Cup in 1997, 1998 and 2002. During the lockout in the 2004/05 season the Canadians played for HC Asiago of the Italian Serie A1, before he returned to his home to the Montreal Canadiens in the following year.

There he played for four years before he was not obliged under the 2008/ 09 season. After he was out of contract in the short term, he signed a contract with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. After only 19 games, he finished there his commitment because Dandenault struggled with injury problems. In September 2010, he made his career end known as a hockey player.

Dandenault took with Team Canada participated in the 2003 World Cup and won with the team the gold medal.
