MathWorks

The MathWorks, Inc., briefly MathWorks, is a US-based internationally active medium-sized privately held company that specializes in software for technical computing and multi- domain simulation and software for dynamic systems.

Products

The main products are:

  • MATLAB is the core product for numerical computations. It is used in almost all branches of industry and science for calculation and data analysis.
  • Simulink is the de facto standard for modeling dynamic systems.
  • Stateflow allows the modeling and simulation of finite automata.
  • Simscape used for modeling and simulation of physical systems based on its topology, modeling forms the structure from instead of the equations.

About this addition, there are over 90 other products that add specific skills for different application domains.

For all these modeling approaches can C code and some C code generated in order to bring functionality, for example for embedded systems.

In addition can be increased by static code analysis using the tools Polyspace the quality ( reliability) of programs. For this purpose, it is first checked to MISRA violations and continues to analyze the behavior by Abstract Interpretation.

Company History

MathWorks was ( no longer active ) founded in on 7 December 1984 by Jack Little ( President and CEO), Cleve Moler (Chief Scientist ) and Steve Bangert. Headquartered in Natick, Massachusetts.
