Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn ABDeh 4/8

The ABDeh 4/8 are three-piece meter gauge electric articulated railcar of the Swiss Matterhorn -Gotthard - Bahn (MGB ) for the mixed adhesion and rack operation. The first two railcars were purchased in 2007-2008, six more are on order and should be made in the years 2013-2014 in service.

The cars have 1st and 2nd class and a baggage compartment. Four of the eight axes are driven.

Like the MGB railcar series ABDeh 4/10 and BDSeh 4/8 include the railcar to the vehicle family KOMET the manufacturer Stadler Bussnang AG.

Technology

Each railcar is composed of two non-powered control cars and a car driven means. The middle car has two -axle trucks with a traction motor per axle. The drive is also in the pure adhesion operation of the eight wheels of the middle car and the gear operation over four gears for used in the MGB rack system Dept. The two control blocks have only one non-driving biaxial Lauf-/Bremsdrehgestell at the outer end of the car and rely on inner end on the middle cars. All trucks are equipped with an air suspension.

Thanks to an automatic central buffer coupling of the type FK ( Schwab Transport AG ), the railcars as multiple units - even with the vehicle types BDSeh 4/8 and ABDeh 4/10 - drive, which allows adaptation to the capacity needs.

The railcar can on the entire route network of the MGB, including the steep section to Göschenen run.

The vehicles have low -floor entrances as well as low-floor and high-floor areas. The latter feature panoramic windows. The motor coaches are equipped with air conditioning.
