Mattias Timander

Erik Mattias Timander ( born April 16, 1974 in Sollefteå ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is since 2011 in Leksand IF in the HockeyAllsvenskan under contract.

Career

Mattias Timander began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth of Sollefteå HK, for the first team, he made his debut in the then still second-class Division 1 in the 1989/90 season. Then the defender moved to the youth department of MoDo Hockey Örnsköldsvik, after which he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1992 in the ninth round as a total 208 players from the Boston Bruins. First, however, he began the 1992/93 season at second division Husums IF, before he returned to MoDo Hockey, for those in the Elitserien, he stood for the first time on the ice. After another three years in Sweden, the Boston Bruins appointed him in the summer of 1996 to North America, where in his rookie year in 41 games he scored nine points scorer for Boston in the 1996/97 season. In this and the following two seasons, he also took with Boston's farm team, the Providence Bruins, participate in the game operation of the American Hockey League. With these, he won in the 1998/99 season the Calder Cup.

On 23 June 2000 Timander in the NHL Expansion Draft was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets, for in the NHL, he was for two years on the ice before he signed Islanders in their league rivals New York. After it was used in the 2003/ 04 predominantly in their AHL farm team Bridgeport Sound Tigers, he was transferred in the course of the season to the Philadelphia Flyers. For the Flyers, he ran on until season's end in a total of 52 games in which he scored three goals and had eight assists. With his team, he failed only in the Conference Finals in the late Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning.

On 3 June 2004 Timander signed as a free agent contract with his former club MODO Hockey, for which he has performed since then. With his club the links gunman was he first time in his career, Swedish Champion, where he prevailed with the team in the final matches in the best- of-seven series 4-2 victories against Linköpings HC. During the season 2006/ 07 Thanks to this success, the 2006 world champion qualified with MODO for the IIHF European Champions Cup, in which he played a game in 2008. For the season 2011/12 he moved to Leksand IF from the HockeyAllsvenskan, the Swedish second division.

Internationally

For Sweden Timander took part in the U20 World Junior Championships in 1994 and the 2006 World Cup.
