The Passo della Mauria is at the height of 1298 m slm up leading mountain pass in Italy. The road SS 52 leads at a maximum slope of 10% of Lozzo di Cadore ( Veneto region ) eastward to Forni di Sopra and on to Ampezzo ( Friuli ). Under normal weather conditions, there is no winter closure. At the summit there is a guest house. Although it is an important east - west link and the route is very popular with motorcyclists, the road is expanded not too wide.

The pass is the Dolomite mountain trail touches 6 (Way of Silence), (also called Friuli Dolomites ) of the southern Carnic Alps and thus usually performs lonely mountain country. North of the pass extend the mountain groups Terza and Bivera, south of the mountain groups Cridola and Monfalconi, the latter with the symbol of the Friulian Dolomites, the free-standing pinnacle Campanile di Val Montanaia. A not a difficult hike leads from the pass through vast forests south to Rifugio Giaf (1400 m, in an impressive location ). From the pass also a dirt road (no traffic ) from the time of World War I leads to the ruins of an Italian blocking fortress at Monte Miaron. Not far south of the pass are the sources of the Tagliamento.
