Forni di Sopra

Forni di Sopra ( Friulian For Disore ) is a municipality in the province of Udine with 1015 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). Forni is located on the border with the province of Belluno. The Tagliamento originates at Mauria on the border between Friuli and Belluno.

Already inhabited in pre-Roman times, the " Forni Savorgnani " 778 were first mentioned.

The modern village consists of three fractions: Andrazza, Cella and Vico.

Forni depends mainly on tourism, as the surrounding mountains, the Friulian Dolomites, are popular with mountain climbers and skiers.
