Max Decugis

Omer Maxime "Max" Décugis (* September 24, 1882 in Paris, † September 6, 1978 in Biot ) was a French tennis player.

Career

Décugis won his first medal at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 1900. He was awarded the bronze medal for second place in the men's doubles ( with Basil Spalding de Gamendia ).

He won the French Championships, the precursor to the French Open, 1903-1914 eight times in singles and from 1906 to 1920, along with Maurice Germot in double ten times in a row. He also won seven in mixed doubles. But at that time ( until 1925 ) were able to attend the French championship only French. In 1911 he won together with André Gobert in the men's doubles at Wimbledon.

At the 1906 Summer Olympics in Athens he also won gold in the men's singles and together with Maurice Germot also in doubles. With the victory with his wife Marie in the mixed competition, the Frenchman took all three possible gold medals. At the 1920 Summer Olympics he won along with Suzanne Lenglen the gold medal in the mixed and together with Pierre Albarran the bronze medal in doubles.
