Maximiano Tuazon Cruz

Maximiano Tuazon Cruz ( born April 4, 1923 in Catbalogan City, † October 9, 2013 in Calbayog City ) was Bishop of Calbayog.

Life

Maximiano Tuazon Cruz attended from 1942 Minor Seminary in Calbayog City. From 1944, he studied philosophy at St. Vincent de Paul College Seminary in Calbayog City, from 1948 theology at St. Vincent de Paul Major Seminary. He received on 30 November 1947, the ordination. At first he was private secretary to the bishop, later vicar at the Cathedral of Calbayog. In 1949 he became parish priest in Catbalogan. In 1965 he completed his doctoral studies at the Lateran University in Rome. In 1978 he became the first chaplain of the Filipinos in Rome, in 1980 secretary to the bishop in Calbayog. 1985 he was appointed Vicar General, Rector of the Cathedral, the diocesan chancellor and rector of the seminary.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on November 10, 1987 in Calbayog City and Titular Bishop of Tanudaia. The Archbishop of Cebu, Ricardo Jamin Cardinal Vidal, consecrated him on 1 December of the same year the bishop; Co-consecrators were Pedro Rosales Dean, Archbishop of Palo, and Manuel S. Salvador, Koadjutorerzbischof of Cebu.

On 20 December 1994 he was appointed Bishop of Calbayog, and introduced into office on January 25 of next year. On 13 January 1999, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation age-related.
