Mayo-Kebbi Est Region
Mayo - Kebbi Est (Mayo Kebbi East) is a region of Chad, and corresponds to the northeastern part of the former prefecture of Mayo Kebbi. Its capital is Bongor.
Geography
Mayo - Kebbi Est is located in the southwest of the country, bordering Cameroon. Named the region is named after the river Mayo Kebbi.
Mayo - Kebbi Est is divided into the four départements Kabbia ( capital Gounou Gaya ), Mayo Lemie ( Guelendeng ), Mayo Boneye ( Bongor ) and Mont d' Illi ( Fianga ).
Large parts of the region are under the protection of the Ramsar Convention, as they are part of the protected area Plaines d' inondation du Logone et les dépressions Toupouri.
