Mayte MartÃnez
Mayte Martínez ( María Teresa Martínez Jiménez, born May 17, 1976 in Valladolid ) is a former Spanish athlete.
Life
At the Olympic Games 2000 in Sydney and 2004 in Athens Mayte Martínez reached the semi-finals respectively in the 800 -meter run. At the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton (Seventh ) and in Helsinki in 2005 (Fifth ) they reached the final. In Munich in 2002 she became vice European champion in 1:58,86 minutes behind the Slovenian Jolanda Ceplak and before the Briton Kelly Holmes.
More Medals won the past fast Spaniard in the hall. In 2003, she won bronze at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, 2005, she was at the European Indoor Championships runner-up.
After she only became seventh at the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2006, it took place in 2007 to age sprinting power back. In the final of the 2007 World Championships in Osaka it was at the beginning of the last lap together with the Moroccan Hasna Benhassi at the end of the field. Benhassi tried to make up places already on the back straight, Martínez tried to follow her. Receipt of the final straight lying in seventh place she sprinted the field and was behind Janeth Jepkosgei Busienei from Kenya and Benhassi third in a new personal best.
At the World Indoor Championships 2008 Martínez came in fourth place at the 2009 World Championships and finished seventh. The same placement she reached at the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona. 2012 Martínez ended her career.
