Měchenice

Měchenice ( German Miechenitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 20 kilometers south of the center of Prague and is part of the Okres Praha- západ.

Geography

Měchenice is located on the left bank of the Vltava River at the mouth of the creek Bojovský ( Mnischeker Bach). To the north of the hill rises Chlumík (348 m). The place is located in the northeastern foothills of the Brdská Highlands.

Neighboring towns are Vrané nad Vltavou and Skochovice in the north, Březova - Oleško in the east, in the southeast Davle, Račany and Sloupsko in the south, and Bojov čtvrť Svatopluka Čecha the southwest, Klínec in the west and Trnová in the northwest.

History

Měchenice was one of the 31 villages of the monastery Insulation; It was first mentioned in documents as part of the foundation of the monastery in the year 999. In the second half of the 13th century began in the valley of Bojovský creek gold mining. Later Měchenice was connected to the Good Hradištko. In 1845 there was Mněchenitz or Mechnitz of 16 houses with 99 inhabitants. In the village there was a tavern. Vicarage was St. Kilian ( Kilian Svatý ). Until the mid-19th century Mněchenitz remained the Strahov Monastery belonging Good Hradischko submissive.

After the abolition of patrimonial Měchenice formed in 1850 a district of the municipality in the district Davle Smíchov and judicial district Zbraslav. 1927, the village was the Okres Praha- venkov, 1942 the Okres Praha- venkov -jih and assigned 1949 Okres Praha- jih. 1935 began construction of the dam in Moldova Vrané. After the flooding of the valley of the sports ground of the football club was rebuilt in 1940 at its current location. On January 1, 1961, the detachment from Davle and the formation of community Měchenice that was simultaneously assigned to the Okres Praha- západ was. Since the second half of the 20th century originated in Měchenice numerous cottages, a camping and a tennis court. In Měchenice there are about 130 cottages, which mainly include Prague residents. Since 1998 Měchenice leads a coat of arms.
