Mehmet Ali Åžahin

Mehmet Ali Şahin ( born September 16, 1950 Ekincik village, district Ovacik, Karabük Province) is a Turkish lawyer, politician and former Minister of Justice.

He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Istanbul. Then Şahin worked as an independent lawyer. Şahin was also mayor of Istanbul's Fatih district. He is a founding member of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi ( AKP) and was a member of the ACP for the province of İstanbul in the 20th, 21st, and 22nd legislative session of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. In addition, he was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State in the 58th (Cabinet Gul ) and 59 ( I. Erdoğan Cabinet ) Government of the Republic of Turkey. In the 60th Government (Cabinet Erdoğan II) he was on 29 August 2007 to 1 May 2009 Minister of Justice. On 5 August 2009, he was elected after three selection rounds for the 24th President of Parliament. He was replaced in 2011 by Cemil Çiçek this office.

Şahin is married and father of four children.
