Mehringen is a district of the town Aschersleben Salzlandkreis in Saxony -Anhalt with 1098 inhabitants ( 31 December 2007). Today, the village is characterized by the conservation village of St. Stephen's Church.

Geography

The town lies on the River Wipper, about five kilometers southeast of the town of Aschersleben.

History

The place was first mentioned on May 5, 1086 a deed of gift of the monastery Ilse castle. In 1222, a Cistercian monastery was founded in Mehringen that until 1525 had stock.

Community Mehringen

Mehringen was up to its annexation to Aschersleben on 1 January 2008, an independent municipality in the administrative community Aschersleben / land with an area of 11.7 km ².
