Career

Melanie Faisst was the daughter of Klaus, as participants in the World Cup Nordic Combined, and Andrea Faisst, cross-country skier and soccer player in Titisee -Neustadt. My three years younger brother Manuel Faisst is also a Nordic Combined.

She started at the age of seven years with the ski jumping. In the 2003/2004 season she first participated in FIS races in which they could be placed in the midfield. The athlete was 2005 at the age of 15 years German champion. In the season 2005/2006 she was the first time in the top ten in competitions in the Continental Cup (COC ), the then highest competition class in the women's ski jumping, place. On 11 August 2005 she attended in Poehla as the best German athlete seventh. In the subsequent competition in Meinerzhagen on August 14, 2005, she was sixth. These good results secured Faißt seventh overall in the FIS Ladies Tour, one similar to the Four Hills Tournament discharged tournament run with four host cities in Germany and Austria. In the overall standings of the Continental Cup she finished at the end of the season the 20th Place.

In her first Junior World Championship 2006 in Kranj, Slovenia she received the eleventh. A year later she took eighth place in the Italian Tarvisio. On 23 January 2008 Faißt ersprang at the COC jumping in Dobbiaco in fourth place, the best result up to that point in their careers. At the Junior World Championship 2008 in Zakopane, they just missed their first international medal in fourth. When discharged in Oberhof in August 2008, she won the German championship with her club mate Magdalena Schnurr gold in the team competition. In the COC summer competitions 2009, it achieved on 12 August Poehla with second place for the first time a podium finish. Two days later, in Upper Wiesenthal they finished third.

Your personal best of 138 meters set Faißt in winter 2009 in Titisee -Neustadt, where she was launched as Vorspringerin the men's Continental Cup. However, she had the opportunity to start with a lot more up. In her fourth Junior World Championship 2010 in Hinterzarten they reached the 11th place.

In the season 2010/11 Faißt developed in the B-team of the German Ski Association (DSV ) for best German ski jumper: at the Continental Cup on January 8, 2011, she jumped to the converted Langenwald hill in Schonach third. At this time they had the only one in the DSV squad already the ticket for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Oslo, Norway in the bag. There she could be placed with a 9th place in individual competition on the normal hill as the best German participant.

The opening event of the three-part summer tour in Bad Grießbach could also decide for themselves, as the other two jumping in the same place Faißt in summer 2011.

In January 2012 she reached the World Cup of Skisprignerinnen in the Italian Val di Fiemme fifth place, while Ulrike Gräßler could go to court. In February, followed by two 11 World Cup places in the Austrian Hinzenbach, there she was already suffering from knee pain as a result of a training fall in Oberstdorf. This fall, which required an operation on the medial meniscus in April 2012, and another in Oberstdorf took their confidence in their abilities. In the summer of 2012, she had to concentrate basic training, since their shape to fit the teammates. Another reason for this was the eight weeks of basic training as a sports soldier who had graduated in the same year.

In December 2012, she was also unable to match together with Ulrike Gräßler on the achievements of the previous year at the World Cup on the small Olympic hill in Sochi. The duo missed the final, because it could not get in the top 25 places and thus into the second round.

After moderate performance in the 2013/2014 season and failed to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi Faißt announced on January 16, 2014 her resignation.
