Melanie Mayron

Melanie Mayron ( born October 20, 1952 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American actress, director, screenwriter and film producer.

Biography

Mayron was taught at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She made her debut as an actress in the comedy Harry and Tonto ( 1974) by Paul Mazursky. In the TV drama The bottom line (1975 ) she played alongside Jill Clayburgh one of the major roles; a more important role on the side of Jill Clayburgh followed in the biopic Say yes to love from the year 1976. In the comedy The Last of the Cowboys (1977 ) she was seen on the side of Henry Fonda and Susan Sarandon.

The supporting role in the comedy Girlfriends (1978 ) brought Mayron 1978 Bronze Leopard and 1979 was nominated for a BAFTA Award. In the Oscar -nominated comedy heart squeak (1981 ) she starred opposite Andy Kaufman, Bernadette Peters and Randy Quaid on. In the Oscar- winning film drama Missing ( 1982) by Constantin Costa -Gavras she starred opposite Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek. In the Independent Comedy Sticky Fingers (1988 ), she took opposite Helen Slater one of the main roles; Also she wrote the script and worked as a producer.

In the years 1987-1991 Mayron played in the television series The Best Years; In addition, she directed two episodes of 1990, which she made her debut as a director. She won in 1989 for Best Supporting Actress Emmy in 1990 and 1991 she was nominated for an Emmy. In 1998 she was nominated for her direction of the television show The Wonderful World of Disney (1997 ) for the Directors Guild of America Award. Her other directing credits include the television comedy The Tooth Fairy (1997) with Kirstie Alley, the comedy Sassy beasts! (2002) with Piper Perabo and Jane McGregor and the comedy Zeyda and the Hitman (2004) with Danny Aiello and Gil Bellows.

Mayron has given birth to twins in 1998. Her sister Gale Mayron works as an actress.
