The Melba Highway is a highway in the southern Australian state of Victoria. It connects the Goulburn Valley Highway in Yea with the Maroondah Highway north of Coldstream.

Course

The Melba Highway branches in the country town of Goulburn Valley Highway Yea ( B300 / B340 ) to the south and passes through forests, fields and meadows to the south to Glenburn on the crest of the Great Dividing Range.

From Glenburn from the road continues to the south and drops steeply to Dixons Creek. Yarra Glen it behaves in the new bypass that meets south of the city back to the old main road. The Melba Highway runs through the vineyards in the area further south in the valley of the Yarra River, where he met about 500 m north of the town of Coldstream on the Maroondah Highway ( B3000 / B360 ).

History

The road was by Dame Nellie Melba, a famous Australian opera singer from the early 20th century, named. Her former land lay at the southern end of today's Highway in Coldstream.

The Melba Highway runs in the Local Government Areas Yarra Ranges Shire and Murrindindi Shire.

The bypass of Yarra Glen, which leads to heavy traffic around the city, was opened in May 2010.
