Mendrisio–Stabio railway

The railway line Mendrisio- Stabio is a former railway line in Switzerland, which is now operated as an industrial track.

It was taken in 1926 as part of the International Association of Swiss Valmoreabahn in operation. As early as 1928 the cross- border movement by the Italian government was limited, and the route was therefore only used for local freight services to the industrial and commercial areas around Stabio. In 1993, the border crossing was reopened, the Italian part gradually reconstructed and performed as a museum railway of the Club del San Gottardo (now operate the museum trains to Malnate, it is planned to extend to Castiglione Olona ).

Thanks to the construction of the new railway line Arcisate - Stabio is the route of the connection from Varese to Mendrisio.
