Metropolitano

Metropolitano S. A. was an Argentine railway company which operated three suburban railway networks in the Greater Buenos Aires between 1994 and 2007. Due to the poor quality of the traction offered by the Argentine government in 2004 and 2007 revoked the company's respective concessions.

History

In 1994, the two bus companies Olmos and Trainmet the Konsortialunternehmen Metropolitano, which it applied for the consortia of the then privatized state-owned railway company Ferrocarriles Argentinos, and ultimately won the bid for the networks Belgrano Sur, San Martin and Roca. Then, a subsidiary was established for each to be operated rail network, transport Metropolitano San Martín (TMS ) Transportes Metropolitano Roca ( TMR) and transport Metropolitano Belgrano Sur ( TMB). On 1 April 1994 Metropolitano started operations on the route Retiro Pilar (mains San Martín ), on 1 May 1994 followed by the other two networks. 1999 bought the entrepreneur Sergio Taselli on the company.

Although the company received large subsidies by the Argentine State, poor performance, the continuing delays and poor maintenance of the fleet were always reasons for number of complaints from passengers and penalties from the State. Then the concession for the operation of the line Retiro in 2004 after numerous, partly serious traffic accidents ahead of schedule - Pilar (San Martín ) repealed and handed over to the provisional state railway company UGOFE. After a violent demonstration by angry passengers at Constitución railway station on 15 May 2007, the Argentine government withdrew the company also for the other two suburban railway networks ( Roca and Belgrano Sur ) the concession and gave this as the state railway company UGOFE.
