Mexican Pacific League

The Liga Mexicana del Pacífico (LMP ) is called ( Engl. Mexican Pacific League ) or Mexican Winter League, a baseball league in Mexico. It is the second most important Mexican professional league with a season from October to January, so a winter season. The master plays with the connection as a Mexican representative to the Series del Caribe.

Game system

The eight teams will play two halves separated -evaluated season with 35 games in the first and 33 in the second half. For placements in a half of the season, there is a point system with 8 points for the First through 3 for the Eighth. Because of these considerations, the best six teams for the play- offs to qualify. From the three pairings of the first play-off round of the three winners and the best losers reach the semifinals. Their winner determine the champion in the final end of January.

History

The Liga Mexicana del Pacífico was founded in 1945 in Hermosillo, Sonora, with four teams as Liga de la Costa del Pacífico. The founding clubs were: Queliteros de Hermosillo, Venados de Mazatlán, Ostioneros de Guaymas and Tacuarineros de Culiacan.

In 1958 was named the League Invernal de Sonora and consisted of the following four teams: Naranjeros de Hermosillo, Guaymas de Ostioneros, Rojos de Ciudad Obregón and Rieleros de Empalme.

In 1965, the League was again renamed to League Sonora - Sinaloa. The league was supplemented with two former teams: the Tomateros de Culiacan and Mazatlan Venados de.

1970 was the league its current name: Liga Mexicana del Pacífico (LMP ) and was able to send their respective champion team annually reordered Series del Caribe.
