MFK Košice

The MFK Košice is a Slovak football club based in Košice. It was founded on 17 June 2005 by the move of the second division FC Steel Trans Ličartovce to Kosice, which was also the city of Košice was involved.

In the very first season in 2005/ 06 managed the club of promotion to the top Slovak league, which Corgoň league. In the following season 2006/ 07 the MFK Košice was fifth.

History FC Steel Trans Ličartovce

In Ličartovce was played long only unterklassig. In 1991 /92 TJ Družstevník Ličartovce was in seventh league. 1992 rose Blazej Podolák into the club and renamed it FC Plastt Ličartovce. There followed several climbs in succession until you arrived in 1996 in the second league. In early 1997, the company Steel Trans rose a new main sponsor, what the financial ability improved again.

After several midfield positions played Ličartovce 2001/ 02 for the promotion to the 1st League, but was only second. This result was repeated in 2002 /03 and 2003/ 04 the team. 2004 pulled the elf in the final of the Slovakian Cup, but lost against Artmedia Petržalka 0-2. The following season was once again to book a second place.

Subsequently, Steel Trans decided to relocate the club to Kosice. A corporation with tens of millions of Slovak crowns as capital was founded, each half of the shares acquired Steel Trans Ličartovce and the city of Košice.
