Michael Hjälm

Peter Michael Hjälm ( born March 23, 1963 in Södertälje ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player and current coach.

Career

Michael Hjälm began his career as a hockey player with MODO Hockey, for the first team he worked from 1981 to 1984, the Elitserien, the highest Swedish league, active. Then, the attacker moved to IF Björklöven, with whom he won the Swedish championship title in the 1986/87 season. Following this success, he returned to MODO Hockey, for which he spent another four years in the Elitserien. For the 1991/92 season, the two -time Olympian joined the Rögle BK from the second class Division 1. With the team he immediately achieved promotion to the Elitserien. After he suffered relegation to Division 1 with Rögle in the 1995/96 season, he finished his career at the age of 33 years.

Between 2008 and 2012 Hjälm worked as a coach at youth level Rögle BK.

Internationally

For Sweden Hjälm took at junior level at the U18 European Junior Championships 1981 U20 World Junior Championships in 1982 and 1983 as well as some. In the U18 European Championship in 1981, he won the bronze medal with his team.

In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1985 and World Ice Hockey Championship 1986 and at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo and in Calgary in 1988. At the Winter Games in 1984 and 1988 he won the bronze at the 1986 World Championships silver medal with Sweden.
