Michael Michalsky

Michael Michalsky ( born February 23, 1967 in Göttingen ) is a German fashion designer and designer who lives in Berlin.

Life

Michalsky was born on 23 February 1967 in Göttingen, but grew up in Schleswig-Holstein Rümpel and made at the Theodor Mommsen School in nearby Bad Oldesloe High School in 1987. Subsequently, he studied until 1992 at the London College of Fashion, where he incidentally in London Lighthouse hospice worked for AIDS sufferers. His professional career began as a design manager at Levi Strauss & Co. in Germany.

Michalsky began in 1995 as chief designer at adidas, and was from the year 2000 as Global Creative Director responsible for the design of all Adidas products. Started for the sporting goods manufacturer and Michalsky developed collaborations and product lines with the fashion designers Yohji Yamamoto and Stella McCartney and the rap musician Missy Elliott. In addition, he brought older adidas products in the " retro look " out again. In May 2005, it commissioned the Korean luxury goods companies Sungjoo Group to refresh the ailing fashion brand MCM and signed him as the new Creative Director. In June 2006, Michalsky adidas left and founded his own fashion and lifestyle company in Berlin.

In January 2007 he presented his first fashion show at City Hall. 2007 Supported Michalsky together with Eva Padberg the initiative of Save Darfur fairplanet.net and the Society for Threatened Peoples and was the official ambassador of the project.

From 2007 to 2009 he designed for Tchibo branded Mitch & Co. to design collections. In October 2009 and September 2010, he designed together with Ariel a time-limited design of the detergent packaging. In 2009 he designed for Sony a " Mobile Summer Collection ". In summer 2009, he founded the subsidiary Michalsky designLab that only cares about design work, which do not lie in the fashion industry.

As part of the Berlin Fashion Week 2008, he presented under his premium label " Michalsky " creations for Spring / Summer 2009, he with political statements such as " nuclear power? No, thanks "or" No Blood For Oil " Association. In collaboration with the WWF, he brought under the label " Michalsky for WWF " t- shirt collection "Protect! " Out showing on organic cotton animal illustrations of endangered species. Each sold T -Shirt 5 euros went to the WWF.

2009 titled fashion magazine Vogue Michalsky as " new German fashion guru". Under the name Michael Michalsky StyleNite organized since 2010 a cultural event in Berlin, which emerged from the Michalsky fashion shows and take place twice a year during the Berlin Fashion Week. In March 2012, Michalsky appeared as a juror in the final show of VOX broadcast on The perfect model. In October 2012 Michalsky presented his first sofa collection that arose in collaboration with the furniture manufacturer Polipol and devoted to Metropolis.

Michalsky lives and works in Berlin.

Awards

  • In July 2005, he and his adidas design team for the red dot: design team of the year elected.
