Michael Okuda

Michael H. Okuda is a designer and was the artistic director and scientific advisor ( Scenic Art Supervisor - Chief Designer ) for Star Trek.

Michael Okuda developed the user interface ( LCARS ), Alien fonts and tools for four Star Trek series, seven Star Trek movies. He has been nominated three times for an Emmy Award ( for Best Visual Effects ) for his work.

He showed his talent even at other films and series - for example:

  • The Flash (1990 ) (computer graphics )
  • Human Target
  • Red Dwarf

For NASA, he developed the logo for the Mars program Constellation, the logos of the Ares rockets, the Altair lunar lander and the spaceship Orion. For 2009 he received the NASA Medal for Exceptional Public Service.
