Michael Schultz (gallerist)

Michael Schultz (* November 4, 1951 in Freudenstadt / Schwarzwald ) is an internationally, especially in the Asian art market, acting German gallery owner and art dealer. He operates two galleries in Berlin ( Galerie Michael Schultz and schultz contemporary ) as well as branches in Beijing and Seoul.

Biography

Michael Schultz studied from 1974 to 1978 music and theater sciences at the Free University of Berlin. He was chief editor of the Berliner ART magazine and subsequently Managing Director of Wewerka Gallery ( Berlin).

In 1986 he founded the Michael Schultz Gallery in Berlin, which presented predominantly German artist. The gallery opened in 2005 schultz contemporary then he shifted his emphasis on young contemporary art. In 2006 he opened a gallery in Seoul (Director: Cho Sung- Sun ) and 2007 came another gallery in Beijing added (Director: Hu Huijun ).

Michael Schultz from 1985 to 2007 member of the Admissions Committee of the Art Cologne. Since 2005 he is member of the Art Committee KIAF in Seoul / Korea and in 2007 a ​​member of the selection committee of the Art Fair 21, Cologne and exhibition committee of the Munich Contempo.
