Michelle Meldrum

Michelle Meldrum ( born September 28, 1968 in Detroit, Michigan, † 21 May, 2008 Burbank, California ) was an American rock and metal guitarist. She became well known through their membership in the heavy metal band Phantom Blue.

Biography

Michelle Meldrum was born into a family of actors and musicians and began her music career at an early stage. At 13 she moved to Los Angeles and founded together with Gene Hoglan, the thrash metal band Wargod who had taken in 1985 and 1986 depending on a demo.

After the end of the band they founded together with Gigi Hangach ( singer ), Nicole Couch (guitar), Debra Armstrong (bass) and Linda McDonald ( drums), the band Phantom Blue. First, on Roadrunner Records could achieve a major deal on Geffen Records, the band after the self-titled debut album. The second album Built to Perform ( 1993) could not meet the expectations. After several line - up changes to Phantom Blue disbanded in 1994. At the Reunion in 1997 Meldrum was no longer involved.

After the end of the band, the guitarist moved to Sweden, where he founded the band Meldrum. Loaded Metal Cannon, the debut album, was released in 2001. Various guest musicians such as Brian Robertson, Marcel Jacob and her husband John Norum participated in the album. The band toured et al with Motorhead, Black Label Society, Danzig, Sepultura and Nashville Pussy.

The second album Blowin 'Up the Machine was released in 2007; as guests included Gene Hoglan, who then joined the band, Lemmy Kilmister and there. A third album was erected in 2008.

On 21 May 2008 Michelle Meldrum passed away at St. Joseph 's Hospital in Burbank at the consequences of a cyst that had formed in the brain. She left behind her husband John Norum and their son Jake Thomas.
