Mick McGowan

Mick McGowan ( born 1 February 1973 in Duleek, County Meath ) is an Irish darts player. His nickname is " The Magnet ".

Career

McGowan began with the darts at the age of 12 years. In 1989, he was of Irish Youth Champion and was in the period following the top 20 Irish players.

In 2003 he reached at the Kilkenny All-Ireland Open Singles Championship as the third Irishman in the history of darts a 9 -darter (177, 180, 144).

In 2006, he fell for the first time internationally by winning the Ireland Open Classic. In the same year he exhibited at a tournament in Scotland a new Dart record, by which he won 5-0 in the final, against Chris Mason, scored a average of 129.7 per picture, and two 11 - and three 12 -darter played.

At the World Championships he lost to eventual finalists Phil Taylor 4-1 sets, which Taylor said it was one of his worst games; rightfully so, since McGowan had defeated him a month earlier.

Currently, McGowan is 155, the PDC Order of Merit, one of the world rankings for dart players.

Private

McGowan lives with his wife and child in Balbriggan, Fingal.
