Mick Wall

Mick Wall ( born June 23, 1958) is a British music journalist and author who has written, among other things Hammer for the magazines Sounds, Kerrang!, Raw and Metal and is now working for the Classic Rock Magazine.

Wall began his career when he in 1977 wrote for the British, weekly music magazine Sounds and wrote articles on the topics of Punk and New Wave. Later he expanded his range and took Rockabilly, Funk, New Romantic, then also Hard Rock and Heavy Metal with to his repertoire.

In 1979 he turned from writing off and started his own PR agency "Heavy publicity ". He organized press campaigns for Black Sabbath, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Thin Lizzy, Ultravox, The Damned, Dire Straits and other groups. In the early 1980s he worked at Virgin Records, where he was responsible for the press work of Ian Gillan, The Human League, Simple Minds and others.

In 1983 he was one of the main staff of the British hard rock and heavy metal magazine Kerrang!, He worked for the next nine years. He is mentioned on the album Use Your Illusion by Guns N 'Roses name in the song " Get in the Ring"; the song was an attack on journalists and newspapers who were opponents of the group, in the opinion of the band or Axl Rose. In the text they are asked to meet with the singer " in the ring " so that he can beat them. Besides Wall also Andy Secher ( Hitparader ), Circus Magazine, Kerrang! and Bob Guccione Jr. ( Spin Magazine ) called. They are accused of publishing lies about the band and to bring the fans to their hard earned money.

Occasion for Mick Wall attack was an article on April 21, 1990 in Kerrang he! No 286/ 287 had published an interview with Axl Rose. As a result, the band refused, ever again for Kerrang! to be available, if the problem would not be solved with Wall. This meant that Wall had to leave the end of 1991 Kerrang! Editors.

He got a job in 1992 in the British magazine Metal Hammer, but announced in 1993 and moved back to Raw, a British Heavy Metal magazine. 1995 and 1996, he worked again for a PR agency ( Rock Hard or Hard Work before he was from 1998 editor of Classic Rock Magazine, and his own TV and radio shows, including at the transmitters Sky TV, Capital Radio and BBC Radio 1. presented in 2004, he joined the magazine Mojo, since 2006, he writes again for the Classic Rock Magazine.

Wall is the author of numerous biographies of musicians and wrote, among other things, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Guns N 'Roses and Led Zeppelin.

He lives with his wife and their children in Oxfordshire.
