Mike Karchut

Mike Karchut (* 1944 ) is a former American professional weightlifter.

Career

Mike Karchut was one of the U.S. weightlifters who grew up in the 1960s no longer in New York or California, but in the Midwest. In Chicago, he began in 1960 as a self-taught with the weight lifting and gained his training cues from the popular power sports magazine " Strength & Health". Later, he trained at the famous YMCA Duncan Gym. In 1965 he took first place in the U.S. do. Junior Championships in the middleweight division with 382.5 kg. That was his first major competition. After he had made ​​the leap to the U.S. national team, he was in " Sayre Park " club of Mihaly Huszka, the former Hungarian world-class weightlifter who had emigrated over Austria in the U.S. and a number of young American weightlifters under his wing had trained. Mike Karchut, who was a brilliant technician who won five medals at world championships after all. However, gold was not there.
