Mikko Luoma

Mikko Luoma ( born June 22, 1976 in Jyväskylä ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since April 2013 when JYP Jyväskylä in the SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Mikko Luoma began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at discos Jyväskylä, with its professional team he ascended into the second class I divisioona 1995 and 1997. From 1998 to 2000, the defender played for the city rivals JYP Jyväskylä in the SM- liiga before he was three years in Tappara Tampere under contract. With Tappara he was in the 2002/03 season for the first time Finnish Champion, after he had failed in the two years each with his team in the finals. During his time in Tampere Links shooter was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2002 in the sixth round as a total of 181 players from the Edmonton Oilers, the beorderten him in the summer of 2003 to North America. There he was, however, only three times used by the Oilers in the National Hockey League, as he spent the entire rest of the time in their farm team in the American Hockey League, the Toronto Roadrunners.

For the season 2004 /05 Luoma returned to Europe, where he signed with the Malmö Redhawks of the Swedish Elitserien, which he missed in the league at the end of the season. Instead with the team to go into the second-class HockeyAllsvenskan he signed for Linköpings HC, with whom he lost the playoff finals MODO Hockey 2007. Subsequently, the national team left the club and played two years for the HV71, with whom he won the Swedish Championship in the 2007/ 08 season. In the following season the former NHL player reached again with the HV71 finals, had to deal with his team, however, the rival Färjestad BK beaten. He also stood in the 2008/ 09 season in all four group matches in the newly formed Champions Hockey League on the ice, where he gave a presentation.

For the 2009/10 season the Finn signed with Atlant Mytischtschi from the Kontinental Hockey League, but returned a year later back to the HV71. When HV71 he belonged in the following two seasons on the offensive strongest defenders. In the 2012/13 season, his points - productivity subsided, so that he received no further contract extension and returned to JYP.

Internationally

For Luoma Finland took part in the World Championships in 2006 and 2008.
