Mikulov (Teplice District)

Mikulov ( German Niklas Berg) is a municipality in the Czech Republic.

Location

Mikulov is located at an altitude of 595 m above sea level. M. on the southern slopes of the Ore Mountains, approximately 14 km northwest of Teplice in the Old Freiberg Teplitz Post Road between Moldava on the crest and Hrob at the foot of the Erzgebirge. In the northeast rises to 909 m, the second highest mountain in the Ore Mountains, the Pramenáč ( Bornhauberg ) and west of the 869 m high Bouřňák ( striker ).

History

Founded in 1540, the town was under the name Neuschellenberg as settlement of Saxon miners by Count Lobkowitz. After a halt of mining, the population malnourished laboriously through field economy. Since the opening of the railway must - Moldava, which was formerly known as " Teplitzer Semmering Railway ," slowly developed tourism, first as a summer resort, and later for winter sports.
