Military Ordinariate of the Netherlands

The Dutch Military Ordinariate is the Military Ordinariate in the Netherlands and responsible for the Dutch armed forces.

History

The Dutch Military Ordinariate supervised members of the Dutch armed forces of Catholic religious affiliation pastoral. It was Pope Pius XII. created as a military vicariate on April 16, 1957. After a mutual decision between the Holy See and the Netherlands is the seat of the Dutch Military Ordinariate in The Hague. It was elevated to a diocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution spirituality Soldiers curae on July 21, 1986.
