Millard Mitchell

Millard Mitchell ( born August 14, 1903 in Havana, Cuba, † October 13, 1953 in Santa Monica, California ) was an American film and theater actor of Cuban descent.

Life

About the year of birth Mitchells there are different specifications, ranging from 1900 to 1905. All sources name yet harmonizing August 14 as his birthday.

The son of American parents already wanted to be an actor early in 1923 and debuted on Broadway. Mitchell stood in over 30 different productions on stage, but it was above all the pieces Broadway - without interruption from September 1926 to September 1928 played - and Three Men on a Horse, which had been brought to the stage from January 1935 to January 1937, the Mitchell's most successful stage work should represent.

Mitchell's film career that began in the early 1930s as a supporting actor in films, comprised in front of around 35 works, including the Gene Kelly classic Singin 'in the Rain from the year 1952. Too was Mitchell in 1952 on the side of Charles Bronson in My Six Convicts the camera, for which he was awarded the 1953 Golden Globe Award. At the same time he stood until 1948 on Broadway on stage.

Mitchell was married to theater actress Peggy Gould and father of two daughters.

Mitchell was a heavy smoker for many years and died in October 1953, aged 50 years, a lung cancer; he was buried in the cemetery "Holy Cross Cemetery " in Culver City, California.
