Miltzow is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen Sundhagen northwest of Greifswald.

Geography and transport

Miltzow is located approximately 15 kilometers southeast of the city of Stralsund and about 15 kilometers northwest of Greifswald. West of the town runs the federal highway 96, east of State Road 105 over the B 96, the Baltic Sea motorway A 20 to reach at around twelve kilometers from junction Stralsund. The train route Stralsund - Greifswald runs through the municipality.

About three kilometers southwest of Miltzow is the nature reserve of man Hagen Moor.

History

After the dissolution of the Principality of Rügen in 1325, the village belonged to the Duchy of Pomerania.

After the Thirty Years War to the year 1815, the area belongs to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania.

Miltzow was until 1952 part of the district of Pomerania and belonged to the circle of Pomerania then until 1994 in the district of Rostock. Since 1990, belongs to the spot to Mecklenburg- Vorpommern.

The previously separate municipality Miltzow joined on 7 June 2009 with the communities Behnke village, Brandshagen, Horst, Kirchdorf, Reinberg and Wilmshagen the new community Sundhagen together. It consisted of the districts Reinkenhagen ( incorporated on 1 July 1950), Mannhagen ( incorporated on 1 July 1950), Angel Patrol, Hanke Hagen, Small and Miltzow Miltzow.
