Sundhagen

Sundhagen is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen. It is part of the Office Miltzow. The name derives from Stralsund, on the southeastern end of it is located.

Geography

The municipality borders the southeast to the Hanseatic city of Stralsund and is located in northeastern Mecklenburg -Vorpommern at Stralsund, an inlet of the Baltic Sea between the mainland and the island of Rügen. Sundhagen borders continue to the east by the Office Landhagen ( circle Vorpommern - Greifswald) and in a southerly or south-westerly direction to the town of Pomerania and the community Süderholz. The maximum elevations in the municipality reach 32 meters above the sea level. Larger forest areas exist west of Wilmshagen and Bremerhagen and southwest of Kirchdorf and Horst.

There are several gravel deposits that were partially surface mined or will be. In the municipality until 1989, oil was encouraged.

History

The district Bremerhagen was first documented in 1323.

Sundhagen was formed on 7 June 2009 by the merger of the municipalities Behnke village, Brandshagen, Horst, Kirchdorf, Miltzow, Reinberg and Wilmshagen.

The municipality was until 1952 part of the district of Pomerania and was thereafter until 1994 Circle of Pomerania in the district of Rostock. Then Sundhagen was part of the district North Western Pomerania, which in 2011 was to become the new district Vorpommern - Rügen. Since 1990, the region also belongs to the state of Mecklenburg -Vorpommern.

Traffic

Through the village the main road lead 96 from Stralsund to Berlin, the Federal Highway 105 from Stralsund to Greifswald and the provincial road 30 of Pomerania to the ferry connection to the island of Rügen, as well as the railway line Angermuende - Stralsund. The latter has in the community stops or railway stations in Wüstenfelde, Miltzow and Jeeser. In addition, a car ferry connects the district with Stahlbrode the island. The quarters are connected to the public transport ( bus).

Nature Experience

  • In Niederhofstraße there is a nature reserve of great value intuition: the Komorankolonie.
  • Stahlbrode the ferry to Rügen 2013 has started with the port redevelopment and construction of a water and walking the rest area and wants to expand tourism in the region.
