Ahrenshagen-Daskow

Ahrens -Daskow is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen. The municipality is located southeast of Ribnitz Damgarten. Until 1 January 2005, the municipality was part of the then Office Ahrenshagen; since it belongs to the Official Ribnitz Damgarten.

Geography and transport

Ahrens -Daskow is located about ten kilometers southeast of Ribnitz Damgarten. Federal highway 105 ( Rostock- Stralsund ) runs north of the community. The train route Stralsund -Rostock leads through the village Old Willershagen. The municipality is located in the Recknitz level with the nature reserve Lower Recknitztal. The river forms the border with the neighboring communities of Marlow and Ribnitz Damgarten. Larger lakes and forest areas do not exist in the municipality. Only in the far east it borders the Schlemminer wood.

History

Ahrenshagen was first mentioned in 1323. Daskow is of Slavic origin, while Ahrenshagen emerged in the wake of the German eastward expansion. The community suffered greatly during the Thirty Years' War. With the Peace of Westphalia of 1648 came Vorpommern and thus also the place Ahrens -Daskow under Swedish rule in 1815 and the town came to Prussia and Pomerania.

After the Thirty Years War to the year 1815, the area belongs to Swedish Pomerania and then to the Prussian province of Pomerania.

The community was until 1952 part of the district Pommern -Barth and belonged then to 1994 to the circle Ribnitz Damgarten in the district of Rostock.

In Pantlitz probably the Battle of the Raxa took place.

Ahrenshagen and Daskow were merged on 1 January 2001 for new community Ahrens -Daskow.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 7 November 2002 by the Home Office and registered under No. 268 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Blazon: " Divided by a diagonally left blue wave bar; above in a Gold after the figure asked, left inverted, border, red gezungter, black grip, silver, the two lower wing-feathers of the wing; below in silver, a lion guardant red head with a torn neck fur. "

The coat of arms was designed by Michael heraldist Zapfe.
