Dierhagen

The Baltic Dierhagen is a municipality north-west of Ribnitz Damgarten in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen. The community is managed by the Office Darß / fish land located in the municipality Born Darß.

Historically, the place belongs to Mecklenburg.

Geography and transport

Dierhagen is the Fish Country peninsula at the beginning of the constriction between the Baltic and the Saal Bodden. The Baltic Dierhagen is usually attributed to the fish country, but heard since ever the mainland. The border to the fish country, Permin, is located north of the village. About twelve miles southeast of the community are the Ribnitz -Damgarten and the B 105, about 35 kilometers southwest lies Rostock. The A19 can be reached via the junction Rostock-Ost (approx. 32 km).

The municipality located in the south-west with the foothills of the Rostock heath a larger forest area. Here also lies the nature reserve Ribnitzer Great Moor and just north of it the nature reserve Dierhagen Moor.

Community structure

The community Dierhagen consists of six districts. These are the lying on the Baltic districts Dierhagen beach, Dierhagen Neuhaus and Dierhagen East and lying on the Saal Bodden districts Dändorf, yard Körkwitz and Dierhagen village.

History

Dier Hagen was first mentioned in 1311. The place name could be from " Deerhagen " or " animal Hagen " descended and points to animal husbandry and forest.

In 1880 the bathing began and tourism has been continuously developed. The area belonged to the Duchy of Mecklenburg centuries and in 1919 part of the Free State of Mecklenburg -Schwerin. She was from 1933 to 1952 part of the district of Rostock, then the circle Ribnitz Damgarten to 1990, and the district Ribnitz Damgarten until 1994. In 1998 Dierhagen received state recognition as a " resort ".
