Steinhagen, Vorpommern-Rügen

Steinhagen is a municipality southwest of Stralsund in the district of Vorpommern - Rügen. The community is managed by the Office Niepars based in the community Niepars. Since 1990, the population of the municipality has more than doubled.

Geography and transport

Steinhagen is located about ten kilometers southwest of the city of Stralsund and ten kilometers north of Pomerania in a wooded area. History

The district Steinhagen was founded in 1283 by the New Kamp Monastery. With the Peace of Westphalia of 1648 came Vorpommern and thus also the place Steinhagen under Swedish rule in 1815 came the church and Vorpommern to the Prussian province of Pomerania.
